At the Marchegiano Club, Smalley and his assistants led the class through stretching exercises followed by a contemporary styled dance routine, focusing on improvisation and how to release yourself as a dancer. He told the students that dancing isn’t about perfect technique: it’s about being an artist.

The Milford event was organized by Carleen Goldberg, owner and director of King Dance Academy and associate instructor Ashley Boerger.
