Three Ocean State Job Lots in Massachusetts started selling beer and wine this week at closeout prices.

The three locations:

  • Medford, 30 Commercial St.
  • East Falmouth, 50 Teaticket Highway
  • Randolph, 100 Mazzeo Drive

Each store now has a 100-square-foot area with 40 varieties of beer and wine – most exclusive to the stores.

The wine will be J.W. Morris, of Sonoma County, Calif., with a merlot, cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay and white zinfandel. The beer will be from a New York brewer and sold under Barrell Trolley and Double Take brands, with amber, pale ale, Belgian white and IPA brews.

All beer six packs are $6.49 (sold at room temperature); wine ranges from $2.99-$13.99 per bottle.

After this initial rollout, Ocean State Job Lot plans to sell beer and wine and two more locations in Massachusetts.

Ocean State Job Lot is headquartered in North Kingstown, R.I., and has 112 locations in the region.

Deb, if you think that it's the government's job to regulate the sale of drugs or alcohol because of some noble desire to protect its citizenry, your thinking is shortsighted. The only thing the government cares about with the sale of both is getting their cut of the huge revenue stream for each. The whole 'war on drugs' and 'it takes a village' thing are both bologna. Our government is the biggest dealer out there. Why do you think our troops are in Afghanistan still? Because they are there protecting the country's most valuable natural resource; opium. In fact since U.S. occupation of Afghanistan, heroin production has been at an all time high. Why do you think states like MA suddenly want to legalize marijuana? Because then they can tax the heck out of it and the state can get its cut. Is anyone even the slightest bit surprised that former MA Congressman, William Delahunt and his dispensary company has been awarded three of ten licenses available in the state at this time? (He voted against legalization twice btw when he was in office...) Talk about crony capitalism! Our government doesn't care about you or I. Our government cares about taxing the middle class into oblivion by way of anything they can get their dirty hands on whether it's gas, alcohol, cigarettes and now 'medical' marijuana. It's up to parents to take charge of their children and teach them to behave responsibly, with regard to drugs, alcohol, food, and other life choices. People need to stop thinking that our government has our best interest at heart. It doesn't...

What are you talking about, Kathleen?! I never said or implied any such thing. Know one knows better than I that the elites hate the folks. I said so in more than one of my comments. That's why Gretchen gets her nose pushed aside. Are you insisting that government should end it's business of regulating what is bought and sold in this country? I hate to break it to you, but educating your child about drugs, alcohol, guns etc is not going to keep them safe from those who cling to their drugs, alcohol, guns and so on.
