The small Shepherd named Pilot, lost for two days, has been spotted several times Wednesday morning in the area of PiNZ and Route 140.

People who see the dog should not try to capture her. She is running away and is scared when someone approaches, said the owner, in a telephone interview. The dog has run through traffic a few times. The advice is to try to act like you don't see her, keep her in sight, and immediately call the owner.

The owner or her friends are available at 978-549-5047.

Pilot, about a year old, escaped from doggie daycare Monday afternoon, around 4 p.m. She has a red collar and tags.

She's about 40 pounds and brown with black markings, and is a Shepherd mix.

Several people reported seeing her running Monday night, the last being about 7 at Vernon Grove Cemetery, where a woman walking her dog saw her run under a property line fence.

She then was spotted Tuesday night near PiNZ, but ran away. Based on the Wednesday sightings, she appears to be in that same general area.

Was the dog found yet? Breaks my heart it's too cold for him .

No, still missing. She was last seen running under a fence at Vernon Grove Cemetery off Depot Street. The owner and several volunteers are out looking for her today.

:( Poor puppy. I hope she is found safe and sound.

I am actually wondering if she ran down the railroad tracks into Hopedale? The tracks run through that area. No one spotted her today, so maybe she stayed away from roads.

I hope she is found soon. Some advice to anyone who sets out looking for her: Bring an extra leash in case you need it, and bring some delicious smelling FOOD -- meatballs, hot dogs, sausages etc. If you see the dog, STOP moving, crouch down and turn to the side while calling her name and holding out some food. Toss some of the food toward the dog if she doesn't bolt. Try to lure her to you with the food (she is probably very hungry by now) and very gently try to get her collar or leash if it's still on. I used this method a few months ago to help my neighbor get her dog back and it worked very well.

Excellent advice. If the people who live in concentric circles around the cemetery, especially on the east side of 140 could look out for her too. She ran all the way from Dilla St. to the cemetery/PiNZ in just a few hours, so she could be running still. If anyone knows people in Hopedale, to share this link, as she was close to the border last night. Milford Patch readers extend around Milford, with Bellingham being our next largest group, but they may not think she's near them.

Doggie Daycare is going to need one of those Amazon drones to search for runaways. Maybe a Patch drone -- aerial photos of car crashes on Fortune Blvd!!

She has been seen a few times this morning and is still in that same area, of PiNZ, So. Main Street, Route 140. People should call the owner and do not try to grab her. She's run into traffic a few times.

Good info not to try and grab her. After 2-3 days on the loose dogs become more and more timid and her owner may also have difficulty trying to get her to come. The owner should contact Baypath animal shelter and see if they have any dog traps that can be setup in that area with Cat food (which is very stinky and a canine favorite).

someone should put out humane traps with that stinky cat food in the area and maybe a resident could keep an eye out for maybe put a bow on the latch so it sounds when it closes.. I bet she's so hungry she would go for the food

please post if there are sightings today. I went out afterwork last night and canvased the area with no luck. If there are sightings I'll try to go back this evening as well.

Haven't heard any updates on this all day. Hoping she is found soon. Does anyone have any news?
Mary MacDonald (Editor) January 09, 2014 at 05:23 PM
She was seen in the same general area this morning. No sightings since then, but I'll have an updated story tonight. (am catching up on other stories)

:( I been driving the area just looking for her I also put owner number on speed dial

I learned a lot from the Granite State Dog site. It said that the signs are the most important thing, above social media, above ads, etc… because most people seeing lost dogs will be walking around or in their cars.
