The Milford Water Company is looking into several reports of discolored water, the organization announced Thursday

MWC reportedly received phone calls for discolored water in the area of Chapin, Fruit and Claflin streets on Thursday, according to the announcement.

"We are looking for leaks, unauthorized use of a fire hydrant or if a business flushed their sprinkler service in the area," MWC said.

The town really needs to take control of our water supply.

This company has the credibility of Obamacare.

We have had white water for quite some time. Looks like dirty dish soap.

I live on Claflin Street and called them about discolored water and they brushed it off. Apparently I'm not the only one complaining!

What? is discolored water in Milford surprising to anyone? I'd be more surprised to see fresh, clean, and sanitary water coming from my Milford tap. Milford water is good for flushing the toilet and watering the lawn and that is about it. Wait… with the recent rate increase, perhaps it’s cheaper to flush the toilet with Perrier.

Where did Mary go??? I do not really care about stories fron Georgia though I di care about their plight! Where is OUR NEWS!

I've complained numerous times about discolored water on Congress Street and was told there was nothing wrong. I was advised to just run the water for about 20 minutes to clean out the pipes (huh??). About 3 months after one complaint, I received a letter in the mail about a turbidity issue at the Dilla Street plant (you know, the brand new one that they needed to build and our water rates skyrocketed). I will continue to say that in the two years that I've been "consuming" Milford water, my hair had been falling out and my finger nails are more brittle and curling. But don't worry folks, there's nothing wrong... just ask them, they'll tell you.

Nice to see what a state of the art facility gets the town of Milford. And to make matters worse, we get that rediculous price hike to boot. What is our hard earned money getting us? What did they do on Dilla St...erect a building and use all the crappy equipment from the old one?

Here on West Spruce we've had cloudy water for months. Feeling ashamed :-( and the catastrophic expense of ripping up the plumbing out to the street, I never said anything. Nothin' like da Nile. I'm so glad others are experiencing this. :-) I wouldn't give a thimble of Milford tap to anyone needing water.

Sounds like a great place to live....pay your taxes....and get killed either by a drunk illegal criminal alien or the government water you payed for. Isn't socialism grand?
harry platcow February 14, 2014 at 10:58 AM
What government water? It's town water that mandated by a govt agency must meet specs. Milford Water claims they are but cloudy water says otherwise. You want gov water, go to the Government Building.
Prometheus February 14, 2014 at 11:23 AM
Oh I am sorry....do you have a choice as to who supplies your water to your home? Enjoy your government water.

The water is disgustingly cloudy and something needs to be done. It has only gotten worse in the past month. Where is Mary? I miss her comments and stories. BRING BACK MARY!

As a believer in FREE ENTERPRISE the alternative is the supplier of bottled water or devices like Purr and Britta Unfortunately that's what all too many folks do as a viable option to drinking Milford tap. I'm hardly a chemist so I don't profess to know what's going on. It's up to us (all of us on Patch) to bring this to an investigative level. From the pen of Paddy Chayefsky and the mouth of Howard Beale, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it any more!"

Dear Milford Water Company, why are you incapable of providing basic services? Really, you're a joke and you should be run out of town; but hey, it's MA. Poisonous water and MA go together like peanut butter and jelly. Maybe Milford could start sampling the water at different taps, create a new position and all. Then fine the crap out of the Milford Water Company for not meeting whatever pathetic standards this state has established.

I use a Brita filter and I change it before the due date just in case. All this money was spent to build a new "state of the art" water filtration plant that was suppose to solve our water problem. What a joke and the jokes on us.....

It is concerning to say the least. When we fill the tub for bath the color can be a pale green, blue, or yellow. It is rarely clear. We filter all of our drinking and cooking water. When something is wrong we find out weeks to months later. Need more transparency and the town should take it over.
Myd Nevins February 15, 2014 at 01:11 PM
Water on my street is consistently clear lately. The taste widely varies from week to week though. Somewhat bitter this week.
MilfordMomof3 February 15, 2014 at 03:06 PM
Don't forget that our rates went up to pay for this new plant that was going to fix these issues! They couldn't care less about the water quality, but they are always on time sending out the bill.
Leslie T. McElman February 16, 2014 at 10:54 AM
I have a whole house filter on my incoming water as well as another filter on my kitchen drinking water. I changed the whole house filter yesterday and found green deposits on the outside of the filter. I don't know what they are, and I've never seen them before. I've been filtering my water like this for 10 years, and it does make a difference. But I'm going to get this filter tested to find out what these deposits are. And we live down in the plains section of town.Even this filtered water has been tasting funny this last 2 weeks.
harry platcow February 16, 2014 at 11:22 AM
Go get 'em Leslie. Tell us of the outcome.
MilfordMomof3 February 16, 2014 at 03:22 PM
The Brita filters won't remove some of the junk coming through. We had high levels of tthm and were told most filters won't remove that. I think it is time for Milford to elect some new blood into office and see if we can get some positive changes for the future.

Someone should call Hank-Filipee Ryan. She'll tell her millions of viewers of the Milford, MA water mess.
