A dense fog is expected to reduce visibility for drivers across Southern New England Monday morning, the National Weather Service warned.

The dense fog advisory runs through 10 a.m. on Monday. It was issued at 4 a.m.

The fog could reduce visibility to a quarter mile or less, the weather service said. The advisory covers all of Southern New England, including Central and Eastern Massachusetts.

The fog is expected to last through mid to late morning and be clear by noon.

“Motorists are advised to slow down as objects on roadways will be seen only at close range,” the weather service said in its advisory. “In addition, motorists should allow extra time for the morning rush hour.”
