5 Things You Need to Know Today: July 17

The vice-president of Consigli Construction has received recognition for growing the company, and a heat advisory will take effect at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. The second in a series of topic-focused forums on the Milford casino application will be tonight at Milford High School. Town officials, consultants and the developer of Foxwoods Massachusetts tonight will discuss water and sewer impacts of the development. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the school's auditorium.

2. Matthew Consigli, the vice-president of Consigli Construction, has been named to the Top 20 Professionals Under 40 in New England, published by the Engineering News-Record magazine. The company, based in Milford, is one of the fastest growing businesses in Boston, according to the Boston Business Journal.

3. The afternoon temperatures are expected to hit 93 today, and 96 on Thursday. A heat advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. This means it will feel like 100 degrees or more, given the humidity. Anyone who works outside should take frequent breaks and drink plenty of fluids.

4. The 2nd Annual "Wally" Seaver High School Invitational will be July 27 and 28, at Mass Premier Courts in Foxborough. The basketball tournament that honors the late Paul Seaver will raise funds for Lou Gehrig's Disease.

5. A reminder that this weekend is the Portuguese Picnic in Milford. The event will play out over two days, and include a parade that will affect Main Street from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
