Milford Native to Star in Concert

Riverside Theatre Works in Hyde Park closes out its 2014 concert season with a very special presentation by Rachel MacKenzie and guests on Saturday evening, August 16 at 8:00 p.m. Accompanied by pianist Ben Rauhala, Rachel and her guests will perform a mix of jazz standards, musical theater numbers, and re-imagined pop and rock music.

Rachel MacKenzie is an accomplished and versatile performer from Milford, MA. She earned her degrees in Piano, Voice, and Anthropology from UMass Amherst in 2012. At Riverside, Rachel recently was musical director for Nuncrackers. Other musical direction credits include Bare: A Pop Opera, Once On This Island, The Last Five Years, Charlie Brown Christmas, Baby, Sweeney Todd, Rent, Into The Woods, The Drowsy Chaperone, Seussical Jr, Godspell, We Tell The Story, Fruition, Closer Than Ever as well as producing and music directing many cabarets.

Pianist Ben Rauhala most recently provided music direction for Hit List, the meta-musical from the NBC television show Smash,  for the sold out Broadway Loves the Spice Girls concerts at 54 Below and the Canal Room, and worked as an assistant on Diane Paulus’ Tony award winning Broadway revival of Pippin. Ben is a proud faculty member at the New York Film Academy.

Rachel’s musical guests include Nigel Richards, Alex Duprey, Laura Frye, Gwen Coburn, Gian Raffaele DiCostanzo, Craig Simonetti, Mark Dicampo, Melissa Ennulat, Matt Chastain and Mark Schiapucci.
