Job Title: Junior Custodian

Reports to: Senior Custodian

Position Description: Jr. Maintenance Custodian

Hours: 35 hours per week nights and Saturdays

Rate of Pay: Step 1- $17.01 per hour

Duties:

Under the supervision of the Senior Custodian

·  Performs tasks related to the upkeep and maintenance of the building and grounds.

·  Maintains the cleanliness of the building by washing and polishing floors, vacuuming and spot cleaning carpets, washing windows, dusting shelves and cleaning bathrooms.

·  Sets up meeting rooms for library and community programs.

· Maintains library grounds by shoveling, ice removal, mowing and removal of debris. 

· Assists the Senior Custodian with routine maintenance for the Library including HVAC system, carpentry, electrical and plumbing as needed. 

· Opens and secures the building for closing as required.

· Fills in for other custodians as needed and performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Equivalent of two years technical high school education. Knowledge of plumbing, electrical and carpentry. General knowledge of cleaning materials and demonstrated skill in the performance of preventative maintenance and repair of plant and equipment. Able to remember details, handle interruptions and respond appropriately to multiple requests. Ability to read written instructions and follow directions. 

Requires up to 60 minutes of standing at a time and lifting of materials up to 45 pounds. Must be able to push book cart weighing up to 200 pounds and transport books using cart between departments. Requires repetitive movement. Must be able to bend over and reach low shelves and stretch to reach upper shelves.

Probationary Period:

Ninety days.
