Rosh Hashanah Services, Milford Youth Center Open Special Hours Thursday

Here are five things to help inform your day.

1. Milford School offices are open today, although classes are not being held due to the holiday of Rosh Hashanah.

2. The Milford Youth Center will hold special hours on Thursday, from noon to 3 p.m. Please bring a registration form if you have not already filled one out. The center had almost 100 students at its program Wednesday, according to a Facebook announcement.

3. If anyone doubts that a teacher can influence their students, read the tributes to the late David Laquidara, who grew up in Milford, on his obituary. Services for Mr. Laquidara are Friday. Calling hours are tonight.

4. The Milford Renewable Energy Advisory Committee meets tonight at the Milford Town Library. Anyone can attend, and learn about how to reduce your impact on the environment. Meeting starts at 7:15 p.m.

5. Chabad House in Milford has a full schedule of services and activities for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. In an emailed message, the Rabbi Mendy said people do not have to have an affiliation and newcomers are welcome. "YES, we will treat you with the same respect we would treat Moses! YES, a full coffee bar and snacks are available throughout services! YES, your children are welcome in shul! YES, we also have a children's program for when they'd rather not be there! YES, the prayer books are (also) in english and each page is announced!" Rosh Hashanah continues through Friday.
