Voter Registration Deadline is Oct. 30 for Casino Referendum

Here are five things to know to help inform your day.

1. If you plan to vote in the Nov. 19 town-wide referendum on the casino in Milford, and are not already registered to vote, please don't wait until the last minute. The deadline to register is Oct. 30. Registrations can be made at the Town Clerk's office, or you can mail the form to them, but it must be received by Oct. 30. Who is eligible? Milford residents who will be 18 years old on or before Nov. 19, and who are U.S. citizens.

2. Registration of a different kind — for Itty Biddy and Biddy Basketball in Milford — has a deadline of Oct. 18. The league play begins in early December. The walk-in registration for the league is 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, in the Milford High School gym lobby.

3. Milford Regional Medical Center is taking part in a social media challenge that could pay big dividends for its foundation. For every new Facebook "like," Twitter "follow" or follower on Pinterest or LinkedIn, Harold and Marcia Rhodes of Milford will donate $10 — up to a total of $10,000.

4. The Massachusetts School Building Authority Board of Directors is expected to vote on Wednesday to authorize a new Woodland Elementary School construction project for Milford. The meeting begins at 10 a.m.

5. Save the Date: the 4th annual Paws and Claws 5K to benefit the BayPath Humane Society shelter in Hopkinton will be Sunday, Oct. 20 at Hopkinton State Park. Registrations are being accepted online.
