United Way Seeks Holiday Help, MetroWest Anti-Casino to Disband

Here are five things to know to help inform your day.

1. The Milford School Committee meets Thursday at 7 p.m. in the High School teacher's conference center. The agenda includes a discussion and anticipated vote on the renewal of the bus contract with Vendetti Motors, and an update on the Woodland School Building Project.

2. The Milford Planning Board will meet Thursday, too, and has moved its meeting location from the Upper Chamber at Milford Town Hall to meeting room 14. The meeting had an agenda item for discussion of the Foxwoods Massachusetts proposal, but this project has been rejected by town voters since the agenda was posted.

3. In a news release sent Wednesday, the MetroWest Anti Casino Coalition announced it will disband, following the vote in Milford to reject the Foxwoods Massachusetts casino. The Coalition was made up of member towns, including Medway, Holliston and Hopkinton, that had opposed the casino. It funded several studies of impacts of the proposed casino, including on traffic and water.

4. The United Way of Tri-County is trying to feed more than 1,000 families in the MetroWest corridor for the holidays. It has begun a campaign, Feed a Family for Fifty, that will provide a turkey meal with all the fixings to a family, for a donation of $50. This will include families in Milford.

5. In Case You Missed It: Dr. Lauren Vicky Farber, 47, a pediatrician who practiced out of Milford for many years, has died of a long illness. Her funeral services are Thursday.
