Tyler Mikulski of Milford Named Eagle Scout

Five things you need to know to help inform your day.

1. Milford has another newly minted Eagle Scout. Tyler Mikulski, who with his father and other volunteers helped to repaint the North Purchase Street fire department building, was named an Eagle Scout this month. According to a news release: "The Eagle Scout award continues to be a rare achievement for any young man, as fewer than four out of every one hundred boys who join Scouting will receive its highest award."  Tyler is the 113th Scout from Troop 2 Milford to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout since the Troop was founded in 1927.

2. Boston Children's Hospital will host a blood drive at Kohl's on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

3. State Sen. Richard T. Moore (D-Uxbridge) will co-host a seminar for small business owners and managers on Dec. 10. "A conversation about federal health care reform and your company" will be held at the Hopedale Community House from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Dec. 10. RSVP to the Milford Area Chamber of Commerce if you would like to attend, at chamber@milfordchamber.org.

4. A reminder that Milford is now operating under the winter overnight parking ban, and this means that from midnight to 6 a.m., cars must be removed from town streets to allow for snow removal and road clearing. This is regardless of weather conditions.

5. In Case You Missed It: State legislation that would create an appointed Town Treasurer position has cleared both the state Senate and House and is now before the governor.
