Two Fundraising Bike Runs in Milford Coming Up

Here are some things to know to help inform your day.

1. The My One Wish Labor Day bike run to raise funds for the Milford-based nonprofit, which grants wishes to children with terminal illnesses, will be on Saturday, Aug. 31 at Scioli's Pizza Bar.

2. One week later, Team Micky Ward Charities will host a fundraiser and barbecue at the Italian American Veterans Post in Milford. The event will feature fighter Micky Ward, made famous by the film 'The Fighter,' as well as a special guest, Boston Marathon citizen-responder Carlos Arrodondo, who stepped in immediately when the bombs exploded, and helped save the life of a man who had both of his legs amputated by debris.

3. A speed and agility training program, which runs for seven weeks, will be offered to children in grades 5-8 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, starting Oct. 1. This is intended for athletes who want to learn proper mechanics, including game speed. The enrollment is capped at 30 students. Registration is now being taken. The fee is $80 for Milford residents. Deadline is Sept. 25 but this one fills up fast. Click here to download a registration form. Return the fee and form in person or by mail to Milford Community School Use Program, 31 West Fountain Street, Milford, MA 01757.

4. Save the date: A 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be held Sept. 15 at the Milford Youth Center. Team registration will begin at 9 am on that Sunday and tournament play will begin approximately around 10:30 am.
