Seniors Invited to Apply for Volunteer Tax Work-off Program

Here are five things to help inform your day.

1. Milford Senior Citizens are reminded that applications can be made through Oct. 17 for the Senior Volunteer Tax Relief Program. Under the program, qualified volunteers may receive a credit of $750 on their town real estate taxes. 2. The Milford Planning Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday and the agenda includes a discussion of the medical marijuana cultivation center, which is expected to be referred to the Milford Zoning Board of Appeals.

3. Milford residents may register to participate in the Oct. 21 Milford Special Town Meeting through 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the office of Milford Town Clerk. The 27-article warrant includes a request to authorize town selectmen to make the town treasurer an appointed position. The warrant is available on the town's website

4. Former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown has placed his Wrentham home on the market, fueling speculation about his next political step. 

5. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission announced Monday that KG New Bedford, LLC has submitted a Phase 1 application and non-refundable $400,000 application fee for a commercial resort casino license in the southeastern Massachusetts region. Applicants who have already applied in other regions for a resort casino license can also choose to pursue a license in Region C.
