Schools Reopen Tuesday in Milford

Here are some things to help inform your day.

1. And just as soon as it started, summer is over. Schools reopen in Milford on Tuesday for almost all students (except the youngest). Please be careful on the morning commute.

2. One of the things greeting students returning to Milford High School are new banners, mounted on the light poles surrounding the parking area, that tout the school's status as among the top 50 Massachusetts public high schools, as determined by US News & World Reports.

3. Paula Fortin, the Milford tax collector, will retire at the end of the month. Selectmen accepted her resignation notice with regret, and noted that she was well-liked by the public, even though she made a living collecting their taxes.

4. The Maspenock Rod and Gun Club has a few openings in its Junior Marksmanship program. An open house will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 24. For more information visit Maspenock's website at www.maspenockrodandgun.org.
