Register for Play Dates at Milford Family and Community Network, Sponsors Needed for March Madness Tournament

Here are five things to know today.

1. Registration for the Milford Family & Community Network Playgroups will be held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Family & Community Network Office at Milford High School. Playgroup Lottery will take place on Jan. 22 at 9:30 a.m. Attendance isn't required for the playgroup placement. Playgroups are for children up to age 5, attended by their parents or caregivers. 2. The Milford Community School Use adult winter programs will have a walk-in registration from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Milford High School. Enter through the front lobby.

3. A free "Workout Smart and Eat Smarter" class will be held at Milford Community School Use, at Milford High, from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. No need to pre-register. Just come to the front lobby and the instructor will meet you.

4. Melissa Alves-Tomas, a candidate for Milford Town Treasurer, will kick off her campaign at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Italian American Veterans Post. Enjoy coffee and pastries and stop by to meet the candidate.

5. In Case You Missed It: Every March, teams of children at Milford Youth Center participate in a competitive version of March Madness. This year, the Youth Center is seeking local businesses to sponsor teams, to allow the kids to have T-shirts. It will cost $50 to sponsor a team of five, and each donor will have their organization name or business on the back of the T-shirt and the Youth Center will mention the names on all of the publicity.
