Overview of AP Program at Milford High School, Fire 'SAFE' Grants for Milford

Here are five things to know to help inform your day.

1. The Milford School Committee will meet on Thursday. The agenda includes a review of the Advanced Placement programs at Milford High School and recognition of students through the National Merit Scholarship program.

2. Milford has received a $4,686 grant for fire safety education aimed at high school students, and a $3,018 fire safety grant directed at senior citizens, Sen. Richard T. Moore and Rep. John Fernandes announced on Wednesday. For more information on the S.A.F.E. programs, see this document.

3. UniBank has contributed $2,400 to the Milford Town Library. According to a news release, a portion of the donation funds the renewal of the library’s subscription to Value Line, a publication made available to patrons. Value Line provides accurate investment research information to help individuals reach their financial goals. The remainder funds The Learning Express Library. This popular remote training resource helps students of all ages prepare for a wide range of career-oriented licensing and certification exams in health care, education, civil service, and homeland security.

4. Although a suspect has been arrested, and is being held on bail, in the reported break-ins of more than 40 vehicles, the Milford Police Chief said Wednesday people should continue to lock their cars, to help deter any one else from breaking in.
