New Hair Salon, Grants for Milford Police and the Regional Hospital

Here are five things to know to help inform your day.

1. Hair Unlimited has opened in Milford, taking the space of a former hair salon, Hairs Boston, at 138 S. Main Street, in the plaza shared with D'Angelo's. The salon is owned by Tina Stevens and opened two weeks ago.

2. Milford Police have received a $5,000 federal grant to combat underage drinking. It will be used in September for compliance checks at businesses that sell alcohol.

3. Milford Regional Medical Center has received more than $200,000 in state grants for its programs in physical and behavioral health.

4. A major change in criminal justice: 17-year-olds in Massachusetts now will be charged as juveniles, under legislation approved by Deval Patrick Wednesday.
