Monday Essentials: Milford Selectmen to Discuss Casino Host Agreement

Here are a few things to help inform your day.

1. For the first time since the town's attorneys helped to draft a proposed host community agreement with Foxwoods Massachusetts, Milford Selectmen on Monday are expected to discuss the draft proposal. Selectmen meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Town Hall. The meeting will be broadcast live by Milford TV.

2. The Milford Finance Committee's meeting on Sept. 21 is now on YouTube. In it, members discussed the preliminary host community agreement with Foxwoods and its exhibits that relate to the property valuation, including establishing a baseline tax contribution of $19 million. The intention is to help guide Selectmen in their negotiation.

3. The Milford Farmers Market on Saturday, which had its opening day, was a big hit. At least 500 people attended the market, and many vendors sold out within two hours.

4. WMRC Radio will broadcast live Monday from the Milford Regional Medical Center's golf tournament to raise funds for the Oliva Fund for Cancer Care at the hospital.

5. The Milford Cultural Council has received $8,070 in a state cultural grant, announced state Rep. John Fernandes (D-Milford) and state Sen. Richard T. Moore (D-Uxbridge). The local grants will be used to promote educational enrichment activities, the arts, humanities and sciences.
