Milford to Inspect Auto Sales Businesses for Zoning Compliance

Here are five things to know to help inform your day.

1. Milford's town planner, Larry Dunkin, recently shared with Selectmen a memo that indicates several auto sales businesses are violating various zoning requirements, including parking vehicles on grass, rather than paved areas, and exceeding the maximum number of cars allowed on-site. Milford Building Commissioner John Erickson said his department would conduct inspections as a result.

2. The Massachusetts Development Finance Agency recently approved a $57 million revenue bond project for the Milford Regional Medical Center expansion. The hospital will provide $21 million in equity. The hospital is now engaged in a fundraising campaign for its expansion, which will add 113,220-square-feet of space for a new emergency department, an intensive care unit and a telemetry unit.

3. By this time a year ago, Milford already had 4.8 inches of snowfall, according to records kept by the Milford Highway Department. We've had a few flakes, but no snowfall totals as yet for 2013.

4. Milford doesn't have any cut-your-own tree farms, but we should have at least two locations for tree sales this Christmas. Lowe's offers trees, and a lot at East Main Street will sell trees through Dec. 24.

5. In Case You Missed It: If you really want to cut down a tree for Christmas, here are some options.
