Milford Teacher, Volunteer Jennifer Walsh Named Special Olympics Coach of the Year

Here are five interesting or important things to know today.

1. Jennifer Walsh, the director of the Milford Special Olympics and a teacher at Milford High School, has been named the Special Olympics North America's 2013 Coach of the Year. More than 120,000 coaches, providing instruction and competition in more than 32 sports, were eligible. "The impressive scope and contributions of all those coaches, puts this momentousness of this award into perspective," said Mary Beth McMahon, President and CEO, Special Olympics Massachusetts. “She was inducted into our Hall of Fame 2006 and we couldn’t be prouder now that she’s been recognized nationally. Whatever the accolade, the true indicator of her commitment can be seen in the many lives she’s helped shape.” 

2. A race is emerging for Housing Authority: Loriann M Braza, an assistant town inspector, has pulled papers as a new candidate for Housing Authority. Last week, Jamie C Luchini pulled papers as a new candidate for the same opening.

3. Another election update: Charles Reneau, the incumbent tree warden, has taken out papers to run for re-election.
