Milford Seeks Nominations for Outstanding Teachers

Here are five things to know to help inform your day.

1. The Milford Public Schools is seeking nominations for the Sen. Louis P. Bertonazzi Foundation Outstanding Teacher Award. The award recognizes a public school teacher who displays noteworthy teaching methods, is engaged with the students and community, and who goes above and beyond expectations. Residents can submit a nomination through Jan. 10 by visiting this page.

2. Concerned about your body image? An eight-week group will integrate mindfulness, acceptance, and expressive writing with established effective cognitive and behavioral procedures for people struggling with body image challenges. This group will start on Jan. 8 at 4 p.m. at Community Impact, 211 Main St., Milford. To register, contact Amy Leone at 508-422-0242 ext. 1 or click here.

3. The Milford Youth Center needs some volunteer bakers to help spread some holiday cheer, according to its December newsletter. Local volunteers will be handing out cookies to those in need, in shelters or who are homeless, on Christmas Eve. The Youth Center will be the collection point for volunteers who can bake at least one batch of cookies, and then drop them off in a zip-lock bag, or in a holiday tin. The deadline for the cookie drop-off is Dec. 22. If you have any questions, please email cadaddario@hotmail.com.

4. Christmas break begins for the Milford Public Schools at the close of the school day on Friday. Everyone will be back in school on Jan. 2, 2014.

5. In Case You Missed It: Former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown is expected to sell his home in Wrentham this month, fueling talk that he may establish a residence in NH and run for the Senate again.
