Milford Regional Medical Center Expansion is at Planning Board

Here are five things to help inform your day.

1. The proposed expansion of the Milford Regional Medical Center will be reviewed by the Milford Planning Board on Tuesday. The hospital proposes to add on to the emergency room, and create more patient rooms, and an intensive care department. It will occupy two floors and be to the east of the existing structure.

2. Some big news happened over the Labor Day weekend, if you were out of town, and (gasp!) off Patch. On Friday afternoon, the state Department of Public Utilities authorized a 54 percent water rate increase for the Milford Water Company. And on Sunday, Foxwoods Massachusetts released a summary of its new plans to develop a resort casino.

3. The Milford Selectmen will meet on Wednesday to discuss the new casino proposal. The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

4. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission also meets Wednesday, at 9:30 a.m. The agenda includes a discussion relating to the city of Boston and Wynn MA, LLC/Wynn Resorts. The city's mayor contends a portion of the project site is in Boston.

5. The Milford Upper Charles Trail Committee will meet at 7:15 Wednesday, in a different room than the selectmen, for its regular meeting. The agenda includes an update on the final phase of the trail and an update on the Holliston connection.
