Milford Regional Medical Center at Planning Board; Another Delay Expected in Nicolas Guaman Case

Here are five things to help inform your day.

1. Milford Regional Medical Center's expansion is on the agenda at tonight's Milford Planning Board. The expansion would take place on existing hospital property (a parking area) and would include more space for the emergency room and more patient rooms. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.

2. Another rescheduling is expected when a judge today holds a hearing on the competency of Nicolas Guaman, the man accused of killing 23-year-old Matthew Denice in August 2011.

3. Milford High School is holding its first-ever homecoming on Friday, Oct. 18. The event is a chance to reconnect with families and support the school. The fee is $25 and includes a BBQ tailgate. Pre-registration is encouraged.

4. Milford Police will hold a series of firearms training sessions at night this month, beginning Sept. 24. The full schedule is here.

5. I have the world's oldest heating oil tank in the spooky basement of my 1803 house. But it won't qualify for this contest. Rodenhiser Plumbing and Heating wants to know if your furnace is a fossil. If you think you have Milford's oldest operating furnace — a "Furnaceasaurus," then enter this contest for a new one.
