Milford Agrees to Stop Parking Along W. Fountain Street near High School

Here are five things to know to help inform your day.

1. Milford Selectmen agreed with a recommendation of Milford Police Chief Thomas O'Loughlin to ban parking along West Fountain Street, near the tennis courts. In recent months, the chief said, cars have started parking on the street, as well as the sidewalk, and at times on the other side of the road. This, despite the fact that the high school has ample parking. For now, the no parking zone will be on the field side of the road. If a problem occurs on the homes-side of West Fountain, police will come back to selectmen and recommend further action.

2. A reminder that the deadline to register to vote for the casino referendum is Wednesday.

3. Selectmen appointed Charles DiAntonio Monday to an open spot on the Milford Zoning Board of Appeals. DiAntonio, 72, has 34 years of experience in construction and project management. He is a former chairman of the Zoning board.

4. The annual Veterans Day Parade in Milford will be Nov. 11.

5. In Case You Missed It: Parking at Town Hall will be restricted over the next few weeks as a company re-roofs the structure. Parking is available on the street nearby.
