Hannaford Supermarket and Thanks to Yanks Partner for Military Families

Here are five things to know to help inform your day.

1. A local business and a Milford-based organization are combining forces to provide gift cards for local military families. Pictures are Jon Burnham, manager of Hannaford Milford, and Michael Shain, the founder of Thanks To Yanks, a Milford based organization that has its goal to Remember-Respect and Revere, our military families and the sacrifices they make. The two have partnered together to donate gift cards to local military families, to be used for holiday needs.

2. State Sen. Richard T. Moore (D-Uxbridge) recently spoke to students at Milford High School. Among the questions students asked: Does the senator support the Milford casino plan? According to a release from his staff, Moore responded: "There are positive and negative features to the proposal, but I don't get to vote on it. On the positive side, there will be additional local revenue and jobs; and on the negative side there's the added traffic and possible harm to area restaurants."

3. Milford Regional Medical Center Foundation will kick off a fundraising campaign today, to help raise money for the planned expansion of the hospital's facilities, including emergency room capacity.

4. Lovers of Milford history: make sure to make it out to Milford Town Library tonight for the book launch of Milford Chronicles by local historian Paul Curran.

5. In Case You Missed It: Several veterans' causes are advertised on GoFundMe, a website that allows people to directly contribute to a cause.
