Foxwoods Suitability Hearing in Boston, Talk of a Vineyard Casino

Here are five things to know to help inform your day.

1. Many people from Milford will be heading to Boston on Wednesday for what is expected to be a full day of discussion at the Massachusetts Gaming Commission about the economic and ethical "suitability" of Foxwoods Massachusetts for a resort casino license. The hearing is at 9:30 a.m. and will also be live-streamed over the web. The commission is not expected to make a decision Wednesday, but one could follow within days.

2. On Tuesday afternoon, the casino stakes shifted again in Massachusetts after the Wampanoag Tribe of Aquinnah on Martha's Vineyard announced that it had received federal permission to install a casino on its island property. The state had challenged that earlier, as prohibited under its 1983 land claims settlement. Stay tuned.

3. Milford Town Clerk Amy Hennessy Neves reminds voters in Milford that the last day for turning in an absentee ballot for the Nov. 19 referendum on the Milford casino is Monday, Nov. 18. The ballot is available at the Town Clerk's office at Town Hall. You need to be a registered voter, in Milford, to obtain one.

4. Foxwoods Massachusetts on Tuesday released an updated aerial site rendering. It is attached to this post.
