Boston, Revere, Palmer Residents Vote on Casinos, a Social Media Challenge @MilfordRegional

Here are five things to know to help inform your day.

1. Voters in East Boston and Revere will vote Tuesday on a referendum for the Suffolk Downs casino proposal in East Boston, while Palmer residents will vote on the application by Mohegan Sun for a casino in that town in western Massachusetts.  The Suffolk Downs project is in competition with Foxwoods Massachusetts, and will require a majority approval today to advance. The Palmer casino is in a different region than the Milford and East Boston application.

2. The Friends of the Milford Upper Charles Trail will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The agenda includes discussion of an erosion control project for the trail and an update on the Adopt-a-Trail program. New members always welcome. The meeting is at the Milford Senior Center.

3. Are you interested in non-public school options for your child for secondary school? Touchstone Community School in Grafton is hosting a middle and secondary school fair from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. It is open to the public. Representatives of 17 schools will attend, including Holy Name Junior/Senior High School, Blackstone Valley Tech and Whitinsville Christian School.

4. Milford Regional Medical Center has an ongoing social media challenge, and needs new friends and followers. For every new fan on Facebook, Twitter, Linked-In or Pinterest, the hospital will receive $10 from Milford residents Harold and Marcia Rhodes. The challenge is good up to a $10,000 gift, and so far, the hospital has only reached the $3,000 mark. All funds will go to the hospital building expansion campaign.
