GMCC invites you to attend “Songs from Stage and Screen,” at its upcoming choral concert on May 5 at 1:30 pm in the Grand Ballroom at Milford Town Hall. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Music and Arts or at the door.
GMCC is under the direction of Mark Schiappucci and they will be accompanied by Wayne Ward on piano, Robert Orr on bass and David Beyer on percussion. Various soloists will also be featured. “‘From Stage and Screen’ will be a celebration of music that has been heard in a variety of entertainment sources; from the big screen to musical theater, as well as television. There will be something for everyone and a few moments of comic relief as well. Please join us for this fun-filled afternoon. The performance will be held on Sunday May 5 at 1:30 pm at The Grand Ballroom in Milford Town Hall.

Greater Milford Community Chorus Presents: Songs from Stage & Screen

Jim Johnston, who has been in the antique and appraisal business for more than six decades, has a nearly limitless store of knowledge about all things old, with particular emphasis on Americana, Porcelain, Glass, Rare Books, Coins, Stamps and Pottery. His appraisals often come with the kind of fascinating context and anecdotes that make him – a lifelong educator and author -- much sought after, whether to please an auditorium audience or for the evaluation of a private collection. Appraisals are ‘on-the-spot’ and oral and are $5 for the first appraisal and $3 for additional items, up to an event maximum of three items and $11. Attend a Dementia Friends Information Session on Tuesday May 9 at The Residence at Valley Farm to help break the stigma associated with the disease. Residents of all towns are welcome! 
This session is suitable for adults of all ages and children in middle school and older. You’ll learn the five key messages, the different types of dementia and their impact, what it’s like to live with dementia, and the small things you can do to make a difference. You'll also learn about the extensive resources and support that are available for care partners and to help people with dementia have a more fulfilling life.
Turn your new understanding of dementia into practical action that can help someone with dementia living in our community. Actions can be as big or as small as you choose – because every action counts! Everybody can help make their community a safer, supportive, and more inclusive place for people living with dementia and their care partners.

New scams are being created every day in order to try and steal your hard-earned money, and your identity. And they are becoming more and more tricky to recognize. Thankfully, forewarned is forearmed! In this presentation we will be reviewing common types of fraud and financial exploitation, and who is at risk. The 2024 Virtual Esophageal Cancer Walk/Run event can take place in your neighborhood, on a trail, bike path, track, by the ocean, sea, river or wherever you would like to walk or run.
Participants can also bicycle, rollerblade, skateboard, swim, the possibilities are endless! Since the virtual event is not timed, you are able to participate at your own pace, any distance and at any time either Saturday or Sunday.

Learn the facts about esophageal cancer:
-Esophageal cancer has increased over 733% in the past four decades and is considered the fastest growing cancer in the US and western world.
-Risk factors include:
<ul><li>Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD, acid reflux, chronic heartburn),</li></ul>
<ul><li>obesity,</li></ul>
<ul><li>poor nutrition,</li></ul>
<ul><li>tobacco use,</li></ul>
<ul><li>excessive alcohol use,</li></ul>
<ul><li>Barrett’s esophagus.</li></ul>
-As one of the deadliest cancers, esophageal cancer has an overall 5-year survival rate of only 21.7%.
-There are no routine or standard screenings to improve early detection of esophageal cancer.
-Symptoms often arise late, once the cancer is considered advanced or “distant” (spread to lymph nodes and other organs.)
-Stage IV esophageal cancer has a survival rate of only 5.6%.
-Despite these facts, esophageal cancer research is extremely underfunded.

Registration is OPEN for the Youth Leadership Academy in MEDWAY!
There are four sessions available, each one-week long. Sessions start July 8, July 15, July 22, and July 29. They are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Monday through Thursday) and 9 a.m. to noon on graduation day (Friday).
With a goal of developing youth leaders in the community, the Academy includes icebreakers, games, activities, and demonstrations aimed at building self-confidence, problem-solving, goal-setting, and communication skills in an atmosphere of fun and adventure. A highlight of the Academy is the high ropes course, which offers an opportunity for personal challenge in a supportive environment.&nbsp;
Although the Norfolk County&nbsp;Sheriff’s Office runs this program, this is not a ‘boot camp’ style experience. We engage students in a fun and friendly way.
This program is for children aged 10 to 14 years old. $199 per child per week ($35 if they qualify for free or reduced school lunch).
