In this regular Milford Patch feature, we'll touch base with former Milford High athletes.Marissa DePaolo graduated in 2010 from Milford High School, where she played four years of soccer and softball. While a Scarlet Hawk, DePaolo helped the softball team win a Central Massachusetts Division Championship and go to the State Finals. She also was named Rookie of the Year for both the softball and soccer teams and was named a Mid-Wach A Division 1A League All-star her sophomore, junior and senior years for soccer. DePaolo also received the softball and soccer teams’ Most Dedicated awards. Off the field, she was an active member of the groups Best Buddies and S.A.D.D. When it came …
Nicole Fournier graduated from Milford High School in 2010. While a Hawk she played four years of soccer and softball, as well as three years of basketball. During her senior year she was captain of both the soccer and softball teams for Milford High. During her time at Milford, Fournier participated in the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society, was named a Central Mass All-Star during the 2008-09 season and also earned the Wendy’s High School Heisman award her senior year. Megan Chamberlin graduated in 2010 from Milford High School, where she played four years of volleyball and basketball. She also played lacrosse her senior year. Chamberlin was captain of the Scarlet Hawks’ volleyball team under head coach Linda Zacchilli in her senior year and was also the captain of the basketball team in both her junior and senior years. Though Chamberlin was active on the court, she was also active off it, participating as a member of the Milford High School band, chorus, National Honor Society and peer mentor program. Michael Oliveri graduated in 2006 from Milford High School where he was a three sport athlete for the Scarlet Hawks playing baseball, basketball and football. Oliveri was a tremendous athlete during his four years at Milford High, and it showed, as he captained all three varsity teams his senior year and helped bring a Super Bowl victory to the Hawks. Oliveri also took part in the school’s National Honor Society. Jack Murray graduated in 2010 from Milford High School, where he played baseball and football, and swam for the Scarlet Hawks. Murray excelled, however, in baseball. In his first start on the varsity team as a sophomore he threw a no-hitter. He had a solid pitching career for Milford, leading the team into the playoffs a few times against Doherty and Wachusett, but not as far as he would have liked to have gone. Andrea Suffredini graduated in 2010 from Milford High School, where she played basketball and volleyball for the Scarlet Hawks. In her junior and senior spring seasons, she decided to participate in track, running the 400 meter relay. During her sophomore year she got the opportunity to play in the state semifinals and state finals games for volleyball. In her senior year, she helped lead the Scarlet Hawks to their first district tournament in years. Sam Perkins graduated in 2009 from Milford High School, where he played baseball all four years. In his senior year, he helped lead the Hawks to a 10-0 start and a state tournament run before losing to Wachusett. Upon graduating from Milford, Perkins went to Franklin Pierce for one semester before transferring to Salem State. Perkins, who hasn’t played soccer competitively since the eighth grade, made the Vikings’ soccer team this fall after a late tryout upon arriving to school. Alex Murray graduated in 2008 from Milford High School, where she played softball, basketball and soccer for the Scarlet Hawks. During her senior softball season, she helped lead the Hawks to a 20-0 regular season finish and a league championship under head coach Brian Macchi. Murray was also named a Central Massachusetts League All-star in her final season with the Hawks. Upon graduating, Murray took off to Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT, where she primarily focused on majoring in broadcast journalism with a sports studies minor. Lauren Besozzi graduated in 2008 from Milford High School, where she played softball for four years and volleyball for three. She helped lead the Milford softball team to an undefeated season and a league championship her senior year. She decided to go out on a high note and hang up her spikes forever, leaving softball behind and following her passion to become a teacher. She followed that passion to Worcester State University, which at the time she admits wasn’t her top choice, but seemed like the best option for her education. Pat Quinn graduated in 2008 from Milford High School , where he played football and helped lead the Hawks to an 11-1 season and a Super Bowl victory. He was a captain, named to the All-League team and was given the Most Dedicated Award while at Milford. He also participated in the school’s National Honor Society. After Milford, Quinn went on to play football at Bates College in Lewiston, ME. Quinn, who has just finished his junior year of football, has been one of the few players who was called upon to help turn Bates’ football program around. Kristen Morcone graduate from Milford High School in 2008 where she played on the softball team as a freshman and also on the volleyball team under head coach Linda Zacchilli. She helped lead the Scarlet Hawks to a league championship in softball, as well as a state championship in volleyball her senior year. She hit .411 with a .630 slugging percentage (in high school) and was named team MVP and a Milford Daily News and Worcester Telegram & Gazette All-Star as a softball player. Nick DiAntonio graduated from Milford High School in 2008, where he started at inside linebacker for the Scarlet Hawks’ football team all four years and was a state champion on the school's wrestling team. He helped the Hawks win a Super Bowl and along the way was a three-time DIA all-star, a two-time DIA defensive MVP and a Shriner’s all-star in 2007. Jill Kearns graduated from Milford High School in 2008, where she spent her time swimming under current head coach Dave Chaplin. She was named a captain her senior year of high school and was also a Southern Conference All-Star all four years. She was the State Champion in the 200 IM her sophomore year and received the honor of being named the Globe Swimmer of the Year her junior year. Kaitlin Morelli graduated from Milford High School in 2006, where she pitched on the Scarlet Hawks' softball team for four years before deciding to pursue her athletic skills at the collegiate level. After transferring from Roger Williams, Morelli went on to play three seasons at Bridgewater State University. Morelli pitched mainly relief for the Bears, but did make a few spot starts for the squad over the span of three seasons. During her sophomore year, she appeared in five games and won one game for the Bears on their way to a 26-17 overall record as the MASCAC Champs. The following year …
Jonathan Joyce graduated from Milford High School in 2008, where he began running cross country and track as a sophomore. He continued his passion for running after high school at Westfield State College, where he has helped the Owls win the MASCAC Championship in 2009 and helped the team to a third place finish in this years' Alliance Championship by finishing 20th out of 155 runners in the men's five-mile run.
