Scouts helped sort the collections, which were placed by donors in brown bags, and then picked up by the scouts. The donations will go to the Daily Bread Food Pantry.
Editor's Note: the following information was provided by Milford Youth Cheerleading. On Oct. 20, 2012 the Lady Hawks youth cheerleaders competed in a local competition in Lowell. Three teams competed to try to advance to the Regional Competition and two Mitey Mite teams went as exhibition. All teams did a wonderful job and really showed the arena what Milford cheerleaders are made of. The Memorial Elementary School staff sure had the Halloween spirit! Principal Lisa Burns dressed up as the Cat in the Hat and the teachers were “THINGS,” from the popular Dr. Seuss children’s book, “The Cat in the Hat.” Each number on the costumes represents the teachers' homeroom numbers.

This was the 100th graduating class of Milford High School. Over a recent weekend, members of the class reunited for a 50th reunion. Milford High School, class of 1962, recently attended their 50th class reunion at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel.The class also celebrated the distinction of being the 100th class to graduate from MHS. Original Post: The family of Matthew Denice has announced the 2nd annual Matthew Denice Memorial Bike Run will be Oct. 14. Registration is from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Kick stands up at 11 a.m., with a route from Milford to Wachusett Mountain and back. The event, which sets off from PiNZ, is not only open to motorcyclists. When the call went out this week for volunteers who could help in the flooded areas of the Gulf region, she jumped at the opportunity. McKeon Dance and Gymnastics Center in Hopedale recently hosted a master class with Victor Smalley and Lucas Triana, who star in the Lifetime show "Dance Moms: Miami." The event was held at the Hopedale Community Center, and gave young dancers a chance to meet the professionals. The dancers also visited the Marchegiano Club in Milford, where students at King Dance Academy and Milford Dance Center took part in a dance workshop. Milford's Hawks 12U team won the North Attleboro Invitational Girls Softball Tournament last weekend.

A group of dancers with Milford Dance Center was invited to perform June 9 at the opening ceremonies for a Paw Sox game in Rhode Island. The Hip Hop Company, the most advanced hip hop dancers at the studio, who are ages 10-18, performed, "Kickin it Old School" which included the songs "Jump," "Ice Ice Baby," "Poison," "It's tricky," and "Whoomp There it is." More than 60 family members and friends attended the game to cheer the girls on.
The Milford Varsity Softball team will take on Malden High Saturday in the finals of the state championship for Division 1. The girls trounced Agawam 13-0 Tuesday, in a rain-soaked game played at night at Worcester State University. Shannon Smith, even in the tough conditions, gave up only two hits while striking out 13. Milford’s offense was once again very impressive banging out 15 hits. Rachel Levine had an amazing game at the plate: she hit 3 doubles, a triple, 3 rbi and 4 runs scored. For the third year in a row, the Milford Varsity Girls' Softball team has won the Central Massachusetts Division 1 Title. The girls defeated Holy Name Sunday, 12-0, with strong hitting and defense. Shanon Smith, the pitcher, had 15 strikeouts, and at bat hit two singles, a home run and had 4 RBIs. Taylor Archer threw a girl out at first and walked and hit a single. Sam Bonvino had a single and an RBI. Lizze Stallone had a great catch in the right field for the first out of the game, and at bat hit two singles and a double, with 3 RBIs. The Milford Girls' Varsity Softball team continued its undefeated season Friday, beating Leominster to advance to the Central Division championship. The game will be Sunday at Worcester State University's Rockwood Field, vs. Holy Name. The game is at 7 p.m. Milford ousted Leominster, 5-1, in seven innings. Highlights: Shannon Smith gave up just one hit. Rachel Levine had a triple and a home run. Taylor Archer had an RBI as a double. Sam Bonvino hit a double, and Taylor LeBrun hit a single and a double.
Editor's Note: the following announcement was made by EXPRESS Dance and Acrobatics. EXPRESS Dance and Acrobatics recently presented three shows for its 6th annual spring dance recital. Entitled “Reach for the Stars,” more than 500 dancers performed in a variety of dances and stunning costumes in front of sold out crowds. There were two shows held at the Milford High School Auditorium on Saturday, May 19 and one show for competition team members on Sunday, May 20. This past Saturday the Girl Scouts of Milford gathered at River Bend Farm in Uxbridge for their first Rubber Duck River Race. The Rubber Duck River Race was the Annual Giving Campaign fundraiser; all of the proceeds will go to the Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts. The Girl Scouts were responsible for getting each Duck adopted. The first 20 ducks to cross the finish line won a prize for their adoptive parent. The event started with a Family Fair. Each Girl Scout troop thought of silly and fun things to do for their booths. The booths ranged from dancing and hippity hop races to…
The Milford Girls Varsity Softball team clinched the Mid-Wach-A league title on Monday with a 15-0 win over Wachusett. Milford had 19 hits. Lauren Hanna went 5-5, Shannon Smith had 3 hits (including her 7th home run of the season) and 3 rbi, Taylor LeBrun (2 rbi), Sam Bonvino (2 rbi) and Rachel Levine all had 2 hits while Caroline Fairbanks (2 rbi), Lindsay Read, Giovanna Arcudi and Lizzie Stallone each had 1. Smith chalked up her 16th win of the season with a 2-hit, 13 strikeout performance. As of Monday, Milford was 17-0 for the season. The final regular season game is Thursday, at home. …
The Knox Trail Council of the Boy Scouts of America this month honored its Class of 2011-2012 Eagle Scouts at a banquet held at the Courtyard by Marriott in Marlborough. Organized by the Council’s National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) Committee, over 100 Scouts, parents, Scout leaders, and mentors attended to celebrate the Scouts’ achieving the highest rank in Boy Scouting. Milford scouts reaching this status were Steven Dorsey, Stephen Ward, Timothy Doyle and Erik Hytholt.
