Charles Hale of Hall Global, the new owners of the Patch websites, can be reached atRead Morech@haleglobal.c om. The home website is http://www.haleglobal.com. According to the story cited by D. Penta above, the Framingham Patch got its editor back in part due to direct appeals by Patch readers to Charles Hale. If you want Mary MacDonald back, don't just comment about it - email the guy that can make it happen! I know that Mr. Hale will hear from me today!

To: Charles Hale, Hale Global ch@haleglobal.com From: Bryant Hopkins RE: Milford (MA)Read MorePa tch I email you today to implore you to rehire Mary MacDonald, the Milford (MA) Patch editor who was laid off last month. I blog on the site under the name Milford Performs, which is the name of the Milford TV program that my daughter and I produce monthly. The Milford Patch was becoming a local (yes, hyper-local) success under Ms. MacDonald's supervision, due primarily to her actual involvement in Milford and its various communities. She was a good motivator who encouraged me to put this blog on the Patch and tell as many people about it as I could. Without Ms. MacDonald the Patch is drifting into the realm of generic websites, just another place to park your browser for 30 seconds, see that there is not much in the way of content, then move on, never to return. No one editor can cover a dozen websites and make those websites vibrant and worth checking out tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. Without local reporting, hyper-local websites are just hype. Please bring back Mary! Bryant Hopkins Milford Performs - A Performing Arts Showcase

Hi all -- thank you for your concern and discussion here. Andie, to answer your question, I'mRead Morecurren tly overseeing several sites up through the Boston area, and Milford Patch is the top priority. If you'd like to discuss anything in more detail or share story ideas you think we should be covering, I can be reached at mattp@patch.com. Thank you.

top priority? you sound like a politician Matt....I can't see Milford Patch as any more of aRead Morepriori ty then any other patch...You're trying to keep readers but are loosing them fast. It's not the same, its not personal anymore and that is what drew readers....We could interact with other "townies", it was nice. Now when you read or comment on an article, you realize its not local and you're talking to people who don't even know where Milford is let alone care about it. Sometimes saving a few bucks seems like a fix when in the end it is the demise. It might as well be called the Patch....there is little MIlford in it anymore.
Bryant Hopkins February 18, 2014 at 06:19 PM
Let's cut Matt some slack here - he did not lay anyone off. We all agree that the Milford PatchRead Morenee ds Milford content which simply cannot be provided from Danvers or other towns not nearby. Matt cannot cover a dozen towns the way that Mary covered Milford. You can see it in the Police Log. The official release does not typically include names, so Mary had to call the PD for the information. Matt cannot do that for a dozen or more Patches. Milford Patch will lose readers without Milford content. Let us hope that the new owners will realize this sooner rather than later.
