Rachel is a terrific pianist, a passionate singer, and a "try hard" tap dancer (she'sRead Moreyoun g and learning, what can I say?!). She has appeared on Milford Performs and the Coleman Candelario "I Believe" Live Telethon on Milford TV (click here http://milfordperforms.com/overtime.php for a sample). She even directed me in MPAC's 2012 production of Into the Woods. I missed her production of "Rachel and Friends" in Milford in June but hope to make it to this production next month. Best of luck in NYC at NYU this fall, Rachel!

Well, Matt Perkins was not on the site last week. That either means that he is on vacation or left Read Morethe company. In either event that means that the 22 communities that he has been trying to cover since last year are now being "covered" by other editors with similar workloads, meaning that if they just get the local police log online the same day as it is released it will be a miracle. I have recently been in contact with Mary MacDonald, the last Milford Patch (only!) editor. She is a part-timer now for the Boston Globe plus her own freelancing. When she was the editor there was actual local news with actual local coverage. Now there are space-wasting "surveys" about self-driving cars. I continue to blog for Milford Performs in this space mostly because it has solid Search Engine Optimizing capacity, but miss readable content in its leads. Most of the Events listings are regional listings from the Connecticut casinos, and the most active blog is the negative and repetitive Truth about Pit Bulls. With Mary running it the Milford Patch was growing in influence and readership. Now it is simply a shell for posting regional and national ads that can be seen on many different sites. The "hyper-local" vision that founded the Patch websites is over, as will be the Patch itself soon enough.
