Definitely will add these to my long, long list of "to reads". Maybe I'll live longRead More enough to get to them all. Just finished an oldie but goodie ... but you know? The stories only stay with me for a while, I read so much that I forget what I've already read and after the first few pages, I get into it again and often continue since I liked it the first time around. There will never be enough hours in any day to read all I want to and thank goodness and God for Goodreads and, of course, my library and you, Danielle, for adding to my lists. Was offered a Kindle but know what? I really prefer to hold that book in my lap to read, plus I prefer to use my library ... it's FREE, for goodness sake, why would I pay to read anything but a newspaper? And, even that can be gotten at the library. If nothing else, I just love the smell of a library! (Sorry for my longwinded-ness ... just love, love books.)
Mamie Huggins April 20, 2014 at 08:37 am
Hey Anna - I'm a book lover too and use the library on occasion. But it's not FREE as you say, it'sRead More paid for by us taxpayers. Also, when I buy a book, especially by an unknown and/or local author, I'm helping that person to keep writing.
Anna Bucciarelli April 20, 2014 at 05:48 pm
Of course you're right Mamie but if I don't have to part with an additional penny from my pocket IRead More feel it's a treat. And you're right too about keeping authors writing I especially like books by new, first-time novelists who often surprise me with the wonder of their words.

Offering yoga, meditation, and other spirituality-based programs, Sohum is a much-welcomedRead More addition to the Metro West area. Unlike other local venues that focus mainly on the fitness aspects of yoga, Sohum instructors incorporate just enough challenge and elements of yogic philosophy to be approachable to the average student, whether experienced or new to the practice. Co-owners Ritu and Ajay Kapur bring their combined experience in yoga therapy and stress reduction, offering unique programs such as Yoga for Cancer Care. While Sohum offers familiar classes such as Vinyassa yoga, Sohum is the perfect setting to explore options that may be less-familiar to the average local yogi (such as reiki, kirtan, spirituality groups, yin yoga). Drop-in pricing or monthly class packages make it easy to customize your engagement to your lifestyle. Namasté! ~ Sarah K of Southborough

I loved the place! The location is perfect, easily accessible from Rt.9 and 495 and yet has aRead More quiet, peaceful ambience. I like the fact it focuses on the restorative, therapeutic aspects of yoga. Sohum seems to offer an array of workshops at affordable rates! I happened to attend a mediation workshop led byTodd Mertz who has several years of experience practicing and teaching mindfulness. Being a mom, it is hard to set aside time for meditation. But Todd's techniques are simple enough and can be practiced even while doing mundane chores like washing dishes! This is perfect for a beginner. ~ Savi V of Hopkinton

Anyone who has ever seen a new litter of puppies will notice that some in the litter are bold andRead More daring while others are shy and cautious. (Check out "Too Cute" on Animal Planet Saturdays) They haven't had a chance to learn anything yet, but their inherited personalities are already obvious. Dogs have been bred for specific purposes since they were first bred from wolves. Inbred personalities should be taken into consideration when training a new puppy. You'll find that it's a lot easier to train your border collie to herd your chickens than to break him/her of chasing them because it is an inbred drive/desire. Other breeds would ignore the birds entirely. Most pit bull owners know their dogs and train/treat them accordingly. Others don't provide the training and socialization needed. These are the people who sue the police when their dog gets shot while attacking an innocent victim. They can't believe that their dog was capable of hurting anyone, therefore the police must have shot the wrong dog. This situation has been in the news far too often to be coincidence. Owners must be responsible for knowing, training and controlling their dogs. I can't imagine the heartbreak of losing a treasured pet, then being hit with a lawsuit because they had so much faith in their pet's good behavior that they let them roam the neighborhood.

Doesn't matter, If the teen lives in the home or one the parents property they are responsible.Read More Their home owners insurance company can be sued as well. Putting the dog down does not negate the incident. It is like destroying the knife used to stab somebody. The stabber is still responsible. I am not a lawyer or anything like that but read enough cases and know enough victims as a Retired firefighter to know you can win on these things easily. Might not be able to get money from some of these people but you can get them banned from being able to own an animal again at the least in my opinion.

Would point out also that is the reason for getting leash law or town ordinances. They merely stateRead More the rule and have no age limitation. I have seen children walking a 40lb dog as young as 8 to 10. There is no way they could control that dog unless the dog has been very well trained along with the child being trained so the dog will obey it. Problem with society right now is that no one takes self-responsibility for their own action anymore (well any criminal activity or incidents like this). Idiot owners like to blame the dog also to negate their responsibility. Start throwing them in jail with sentences they would give to a person for doing what the dog does and you would have deterent. But there will always be some excuse. It sickens me to no end.

Boss Hog I see you changed your subtitle from "telling the whole story" to "helpingRead More people make decisions". Was that because I pointed out the FACT that you were NOT sharing the "whole story"? Let me point out something else, your NOT helping anyone with you simpleton approach to a Blog. I get it, you don't like certain dogs. It's your choice and your opinion. Your NON blog is just a collection of stories written by someone else and pictures that have nothing to do with the stories you recycle. It it exactly this biased reporting of a collection of horror stories about people being attacked that creates a fear of these dogs. Not all bully breed dogs are evil and bad. I feel bad for the people injured. It's terrible. But you neglect to tell the OTHERSIDE of the bully breeds. I personally know many pitbull type dogs that do good things but unfortunately we live in a drama addicted society so happy stories don't sell. you are in no way helping anyone. Try actually writing more than five bullet points about a terrible story. It would be nice to see some real discussion. It's unfortunate that many people hate these dogs based solely on the news instead of based on personal experience. I used to be that person until I actually met several pitbull dogs.

Hi Maya- I hopped back on this thread for one purpose- you and others on this thread have madeRead More sincere, intelligent comments. But you are ignoring the cardinal rule of the internet: Don't Feed the Trolls. Boss Hogg is a troll. His biased presentation of one sided material, "culled" (pun intended) from a broad, unrelated array of news sources, is classic trolling. Remember: Trolling is not just for the comments! The whole purpose of a blog can be to troll for outrage, and pageviews, as seems to be the case here.

You people all should get a life. By definition none of you who speak out against pit bulls haveRead More any first hand experience with pit bulls let alone owned, or taken care of one. My pit mix is the best, sweetest dog ever. And he was the eighth of seven prior fosters - some good, others great. I know there are bad dogs out there, and pits like any larger dog are powerful. So when they're bad, they're dangerous - but there's nothing unique to the breed that makes them so. By the way, my cocker spaniel/beagle mix is crazy and dangerous.
