What's Happening with Leaf Collections?

The Milford Highway Department is collecting leaves, but on a delayed schedule due to a snow storm, a hurricane and some equipment problems in recent weeks.

When are my leaves getting picked up?

The Milford Highway Department is working on it, really! The schedule for leaf collections published by the department held until Hurricane Sandy, and then a surprise snowstorm, and then some unexpected equipment problems.

The collections now, as a result, are running about a week behind the published leaf schedule. The department is sending out reverse-911 messages to residents letting them know when the leaf-machine will collect on their streets.

This week, the week of Thanksgiving, collections are still being made on Routes 1 and 5. Route 2 streets will begin on Wednesday, but then there will be a break for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The original schedule is attached to this story as a PDF, if you want to check it.

Also, as a reminder, the town's Board of Health has opened the transfer station on weekends in November, for people who want to get rid of Hurricane Sandy debris.
