Registering to vote is a good idea, but advised residents Thursday that the form is mailed by recipients to the state Secretary of State, which then forwards it to the respective Town Clerk's office.

The information has to be verified, and people are still required to come in and show proof of residence and age.

"We have been forwarded quite a few forms," Neves wrote, in an email. "One person has been deceased since 2004 — we promptly shredded this application!!"

Registering or changing address information is simple: call the Town Clerk's Office at 508-634-2307.
