The soccer clothing and equipment retailer has been in business for 14 years and is owned by the Calcagni family.

"We're very happy," Charlie Calcagni said, attributing his win in this week's poll in part to his loyal Facebook fan base.

The store does general retail and also serves teams, local clubs and leagues and tournaments. They're building up an Internet sales component of the business, as well. Beyond the business, Soccer Spot is a sponsor of an annual motorcycle run for My One Wish, which will be held this year in September.

Calcagni noted that Soccer Spot is the sole supplier for licensed soccer referees in the state. Massachusetts has the second highest number in the country of registered soccer players between the ages of 6 and 19. (California is first.)
