Police Log: Domestic Assault, Wallet Stolen at Honey Dew
The following information was supplied by the Milford police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
In the overnight police dispatch log, officers responded to several locations for reports of erratic drivers, and made several arrests.
Monday, Jan. 30
6:25 p.m.: An officer was flagged down on South Main Street by residents who told him an injured dog was in the area. The officer called an animal control officer and searched, but was unable to locate the dog. The residents then said they were not sure the dog was actually injured.
6:54 p.m.: A caller on Prospect Street reported an erratic driver who had just pulled into the Rite Aid parking area. A man with a red hat was operating the vehicle. He entered the MAC Package Store as the caller phoned police. Police were not able to locate him.
7:09 p.m.: Firefighters responded to a home on High Street after a caller reported the flame in the pellet stove was too high, and she had believed it malfunctioned. She turned off the stove and evacuated the home. Firefighters determined there was no malfunction, but no fire was in the home on arrival.
7:21 p.m. Police responded to Whitney Street for a report of an injured dog in the area.
8:55 p.m.: A man called police to report his wife came after him with a kitchen knife in their Lyndon Road apartment. He was outside waiting for officers, and the wife was inside with their toddler. After investigating, police arrested Johnathan A. Rumgay, 35, of 2 Lyndon Rd., Apt. 11, on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
9:21 p.m.: A large amount of trash was reportedly dumped at Tank Field on Congress Street. Police left a message for the Milford Highway Department.
Tuesday, Jan. 31
6:20 a.m.: A caller on Central Street reported the possible theft of a license plate off a vehicle.
11:56 a.m.: A two-car crash was reported near Lowe's on Fortune Boulevard. No injuries were involved.
12:38 p.m.: A caller on Congress Terrace complained that a Ford Expedition with two people inside was being driven around the block, going "about 5 mph." Police investigated and were seeking a summons to charge Segovia Mariana, 40, of 12 W. Walnut St., Milford, with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
2:03 p.m.: Several officers responded to Honey Dew Donuts on South Main Street after a caller reported someone had come into the store and stolen a purse from behind the counter, then fled in an Oldsmobile. Hopedale Police recovered the wallet. Bellingham Police reported they had two suspects in custody, along with the stolen vehicle. They told Milford police they would book the suspects in their town for the vehicle, then turn them over to Milford. The suspects were not identified in the police narrative.
2:24 p.m.: An off-duty officer spotted a suspect wanted on a warrant on Sumner Street, near THAT Corporation. Police arrested Patrick Gerard Ireland, 18, of 22 Depot St., Apt. B, Milford, on a warrant.
