Police Log: Skidding Crashes, Abandoned Bike

This edition of the police includes a found bicycle, a restraining order request that was denied and several accidents caused by rain-soaked streets that froze over Monday night into Tuesday morning. 

Monday, March 7

4:06 p.m.: Police directed traffic around a disabled vehicle in front of .

4:32 p.m.: An officer assisted a Fruit Street resident who said a car was blocking his driveway, making it impossible for him to leave. 

4:41 p.m.: A caller from NAPA Auto Parts reported that a bike had been left at the store. An officer brought it back to the station after it went unclaimed for some time.

5:17 p.m.: An officer took a report from an employee at Seracare Life Sciences Inc. regarding suspicious mail that had been received. 

5:29 p.m.: Police assisted someone who walked into the station seeking a temporary restraining order. However, the judge on call denied the request and the person was advised to attempt to receive an order the next day at . 

6:21 p.m.: An officer responded to Governors Way after a caller from the street said she saw water pouring out of a house across the street. The water was determined to be runoff from the rainstorm and snow melt. 

8:40 p.m.: A caller told police his car spun out and struck a mailbox at 148 Cedar St. after skidding on an icy patch of road. 

9:14 p.m.: An officer spoke to residents of a property on Cherry Street after a neighbor called to complain that 27 people were living in a two-family home and causing a disturbance with their loud noises. 

9:21 p.m.: An officer took a report of a hit-and-run accident that a caller witnessed outside Garden Pizza at 92 Prospect St.. The caller said a van with ladder racks on top struck a parked GMC Envoy and left the scene. 

11:33 p.m.: A caller said four or five men were playing loud music and yelling in front of his house on East Main Street and that they would not leave when he asked them. 

Tuesday, March 8 

6:27 a.m.: A private investigator checked in with police to let them know he'd be conducting his work for the next two days in the area of Shadowbrook Lane. 

8:39 a.m.: An officer helped the parties involved in a minor two-car accident outside exchange insurance information. 

8:48 a.m.: A caller said a silver minivan slid on ice and went off the road on Purchase Street. An officer was not able to locate the vehicle, however. 

9:05 a.m.: An officer assisted with the aftermath of a two-car accident near . No one was injured and both cars were able to be driven away. 

12:56 p.m.: An officer went to to investigate juvenile offenses. Arrests were made.
