Police Log: Hiding Child, Domestic Assault

The following information was supplied by the Milford police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

In the overnight log, police responded to a report of a man beating up a woman on Exchange Street. Police later arrested a man on a domestic assault and battery charge after he went to to try to pick up the woman he was accused of injuring hours before.

Sunday, Nov. 6

5:44 p.m.: A woman walked in to police headquarters to report that a young girl was hiding in the bushes on Franklin Street. Two officers responded. One brought the girl to the police station. Another spoke to a parent on Chestnut. The mother later was reunited with the daughter at the police station.

6:02 p.m.: A caller reported seeing erratic driving on South Main Street. Police could not locate the vehicle.

6:04 p.m.: A two-vehicle crash was reported in the parking lot of . No injuries were involved.

9:29 p.m.: Police received a report that a woman was getting beaten up by a man, who then fled the scene on Exchange Street. The woman was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

10:02 p.m.: A caller reported seeing an intoxicated woman, stumbling around on West Street, at Bancroft Avenue. A family member picked up the woman and brought her home, police reported.

Monday, Nov. 7

12:13 a.m.: Police responded to the hospital for a report of a man, from the earlier domestic incident, attempting to pick up the female victim. Police went to the hospital and arrested Mario Chuqui, 26, of 31 Purchase St., Apt. 2, Milford, on a charge of domestic assault and battery.

5:00 a.m.: A caller from on South Main Street told police a woman was passed out on the property, but breathing. The woman was taken to the hospital.

6:30 a.m.: A person called from West Fountain Street to report that a man was “standing in her yard” and would not leave after her husband spoke with him. Police determined the man had had a mental status change. He was taken to the hospital.

7:18 a.m.: A caller on Whitewood Road reported that a car had crashed into a utility pole. The driver was taken to the hospital, police reported, and the vehicle towed.

11:15 a.m.: A woman called to report that women’s clothing was strewn around at the top of Madden Avenue, in the area of Idolola Drive. Police determined the clothing appeared to have been abandoned. A woman later called who said the clothing was hers, that her gym bag had been stolen out of her car, along with an iPod.

11:53 a.m.: Following a motor vehicle stop on Jefferson Street, police arrested Henry Diaz, 27, of 59 Water St., Milford, on a charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

12:16 p.m.: A caller complained she was having problems with the kids using . She said they are “harming her property by skateboarding on it and ripping down the private property signs that she has put up.” She asked to speak to an officer.

12:22 p.m.: A caller from the Congress Street area told police a man was sitting on a couch in the area of . He “made a sexual comment to her while reading an adult magazine.” Police spoke to the man.

3:00 p.m.: Police received a report of a disturbance involving several youths who were riding bicycles at . The kids were told to leave.

3:06 p.m.: Police are seeking a summons to charge David Anderson, 46, of 430 Main St., South Dennis, with violating an abuse prevention order.
