UPDATE: Former Manager Faces 10 Felony Charges

A former Waters Corp. employee and Bridgewater resident allegedly used her company card for $80,000 in personal expenses.

A former manager at . is accused of using company funds to cover more than $80,000 in personal charges on her corporate credit card, including for trips to Aruba and Cape Cod, police said.

Darlene L. Duchaine, 58, of Bridgewater, had worked for Waters for approximately 10 years, and allegedly used her corporate American Express card numerous times for personal expenses between March 2005 and September 2009. She is accused of then authorizing transfers from company accounts to cover the personal charges, according to the court filings.

Duchaine was terminated from Waters in July 2010, after company officials confronted her about several transactions. Lt. James Falvey, investigating officer for the Milford Police Department, said she left the company as a global shared services manager, and prior to that, had been an accounts payable manager.

According to court documents, her position at the company had allowed her to conduct financial affairs. Waters officials confronted her last summer after becoming suspicious about several transactions. The company then conducted an investigation and shared their findings with police.

Duchaine did not return several phone calls yesterday, seeking comment. Court records indicate she hired an attorney following her dismissal.

A spokesman for Waters Corp. declined to comment Thursday, but said the company is continuing to cooperate with authorities. “We’re working with the prosecutors,” said Jeff Tarmy, a Waters spokesman.

Court records include copies of more than a dozen pages of charges made on Duchaine’s corporate account. The charges include lodging in Aruba and Cape Cod, as well as numerous purchases of jewelry, gift cards, home furnishings, clothes, gas, department store, grocery and electronics expenses.

issued a criminal complaint against Duchaine yesterday. She is charged with 10 counts of larceny over $250, and will be arraigned in April.
