Eight years ago on Saturday, Marine Gunnery Sgt. Elia Fontecchio was killed while on foot patrol in Iraq.

A 1992 graduate of Milford High School, he was serving his second tour of duty.

On Saturday, town residents, friends and family are expected to remember him in a memorial motorcycle and car run. The proceeds will go to memorial scholarships for Milford High seniors, celebrating Fontecchio's love for theater and chorus.

His parents, Dennis and Cindy, sisters Jocelyn and Nicole and their families plan to travel from Florida to attend the memorial run. His twin sister, Alicia, and her family will travel from Virginia.

The 65-mile run will leave and end at TD's Pub in Milford. A fee of $20 per motorcycle/car will be collected at the door. The event includes a DJ after the run and food and drink at TD's. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the run is at 11 a.m.
