Louisa Lake: Too Tight a Squeeze?
Milford Selectmen are advocating for an expansion of parking at Louisa Lake, where traffic backs up on nice, sunny days as trail users try to find a spot.
Drive to Louisa Lake on a sunny day, and chances are you'll have a tough time finding a parking spot.
The parking lot has 52 regular spaces and three handicapped spots — plenty of room on cold, windy or wet days, not nearly enough on decent weekends.
Milford Selectmen this week reviewed a preliminary estimate of $171,000 for the doubling of spaces at the lakefront, including more handicapped spots. The estimate, which includes a contingency, also covers the cost of making the access to the information kiosk accessible to wheelchair-users.
The cost estimate, prepared by Town Engineer Michael Santora, assumes he will prepare the design plan.
