Kitchen Fire in Prospect Heights Leaves $50K in Damage
A fire caused by unattended cooking left $50,000 in damage to a Prospect Heights home. A resident received a minor burn injury.
A fire that started with unattended ribs in an oven left an estimated $50,000 in damage to a Prospect Heights home, according to the Milford Fire Department.
A resident of the two-level home, at 5 Prospect St., received a minor burn. No other people were injured in the fire, which was reported shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday.
Milford firefighters extinguished the blaze, which gutted the kitchen and spread to the den, said Milford Fire Chief John Touhey.
Hopkinton firefighters assisted on scene.
Damage was contained to the unit, which is one of four in a brick building facing the small park in Prospect Heights. The fire was contained to the first floor of the home, Touhey said, but the second floor had smoke damage. The three other units in the structure had minor smoke damage, as well, he said.
