UPDATED: Uncertain Cause in Car Fire

A fire in one vehicle parked in the Kohl's parking plaza Tuesday spread to an adjoining sedan.

UPDATED: The driver of a Mitsubishi which caught fire Tuesday outside Kohl's Department Store had just started the engine when the car started smoking.

The cause of the blaze, which also melted paint and parts on a nearby car, is undetermined, said Lt. Frank Ferrante of the Milford Fire Department.

The Mitsubishi owner had just had some work done on the car at a garage recently, Ferrante said, referring to the installation of a remote starter. But the cause of the fire Tuesday could not be pinpointed.

No one was injured. The other damaged vehicle, a Subaru sedan, had exterior damage due to radiant heat but can be repaired, Ferrante said.
