Do Not Place Brush at Curbside

Milford has opened two locations for residents to dispose of brush and yard waste from Hurricane Irene. Please do not haul it to the curb, it will not be collected.

Editor's Note: In an email message, Scott Crisafulli, the Milford Highway Surveyor, said the following:

The brush site on Asylum Street, opposite the [Milford] Geriatric Authority will be open to Milford residents ONLY, at no charge, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., until further notice

The Transfer Station on Cedar Street will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

DO NOT put debris on sidewalks or into the roadway.

Not too long after I received this email, a notification went out to people who have signed up for the town's messaging system. Shortly after, people started showing up at the brush site. Just posted a video of some of them.

I read something that said if you brought it to your curbside it would be picked up over the next week, what changed?

Did you read that on a town website? I'm not sure. The email about not leaving it curbside just came out yesterday...

I called up the public works office, (203) 783-3265, in a automated message it said that they would be picking up debri from peoples curbs. It stated that it had to be in small bundle, no longer that 4 feet. DO not put it in the street.
