An 11-year-old Milford boy was struck by a car Monday morning while running across East Main Street to catch his school bus.
The boy was taken by ambulance to UMass Memorial Medical Center following the collision, reported shortly after 7 a.m. on East Main Street, near the Hannaford Supermarket shopping plaza. His injuries were not specified in the police report, but are not thought to be severe.
The driver, who stopped, told police she was traveling west on East Main Street and had just gone through the traffic lights at Medway Road when she saw a school bus in the road. The lights on the bus were flashing yellow, she told police.
As she slowed, she said a pedestrian ran off the sidewalk and into the side of her car. According to the police report, the boy hit the passenger's side of the Subaru, rolling on to the hood and smashing the windshield.
Several people witnessed the crash and gave statements to police. The 53-year-old driver was not cited in the incident, according to the initial report filed by Officer Paul Castiglione.
