5 Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 12
Today is Veterans Day, and several offices are closed. But trash and recycling are being collected as usual.
Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.
1. Milford garbage and recycling will be collected today, and all week, on schedule. The Veterans Day holiday is one of several that does not affect collections.
2. Milford is searching for a new town administrator. Ads began running in The Boston Globe and other outlets in October. The deadline for applying is Dec. 7. Town Administrator Louis Celozzi will retire in March.
3. Eleven residents of Bancroft Avenue have petitioned town officials to make the road a one-way street. The letter cites an increase in traffic through the neighborhood, and parking that reduces the travel space.
4. If the Milford Water Company is sucessful in obtaining an 82 percent water rate increase, which it is seeking through the state Department of Public Utilities, Milford will pay nearly $1.1 million a year for water, an increase of $495,000, selectmen were told last week.
5. The Milford Highway Department will continue to collect leaves this month. To see the schedule for collection, and an explanation for how to leave the leaves, see this story.
