5 Things You Need to Know Today: Feb. 11

U.S. Rep. Joseph Kennedy will be in Milford today, speaking at a luncheon and touring the Seven Hills facility, and the Milford Youth Center will be closed.

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. The Milford Youth Center will remain closed on Monday.

2. The Milford Town Library will have a delayed opening today, at 11 a.m., giving town workers some time to better clear the walkway and entrance and prepare the library after being closed.

3. U.S. Rep. Joseph Kennedy III, who represents Milford and the 4th District, will speak today at a luncheon at Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, and then tour the Seven Hills center on Cedar Street.

4. If you haven't already, once the rain stops, clear the fire hydrant in front of or near your home. Firefighters will need to have access to them.

5. Do you have a favorite business? Upload a photo of your favorite place to our photo contest story by 5 p.m., for a chance at a $25 gift card.

6. Adding a Sixth Thing: because of the blizzard, and Milford Town Hall closing early on Friday, the deadline for people to pull nomination papers to run for town offices is extended until 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11.

A reminder that state Sen. Richard Moore has rescheduled the "Planning for Higher Education" seminar at the library. It was supposed to be tonight, a new date will be announced soon.
