Mary A. DiBattista, 89, of Milford, formerly of Hopedale and West Yarmouth, died Mon., April 4, at Beaumont Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Northbridge after a period of declining health. 

She was born in Milford, daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie (Marcone) DiBattista. She graduated from Milford High School in 1939 and Boston University in 1941. 

Miss DiBattista began her career with New England Tel. & Tel. upon graduation from college and retired from then-named NYNEX in 1982 after 41 years of service. She had served as president of the Denver Chapter of Telephone Pioneers and regional vice president of the Telephone Pioneers of America in the six New England states. She was a Verizon Pioneer life member. She was also a former active member of the Milford Republican Town Committee and served several terms on the Republican State Committee from the Fourth Worcester Senatorial District. 

She leaves her sister, Jeanne Luchini and her husband, Robert, of Milford; two nephews, Joseph Luchini and his wife, Diane, of Hopedale and Richard Luchini and his wif,e Trish, of Milford; three grandnephews, Matthew, Jason and Justin Luchini; and a grandniece, Marissa Luchini. 

Her funeral service was held Fri., April 8, at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress St. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Legacy of Faith Campaign, c/o Sacred Heart Parish, 5 East Main St., Milford, MA 01757.
